Art Connecting People

Projekt Art Connecting People je mezinárodní kulturní iniciativa financovaná Evropskou unií v rámci programu CERV. Sdružuje čtyři veřejné knihovny napříč Evropou – včetně městské Knihovny Třinec – s cílem podpořit sociální inkluzi a soudržnost komunity prostřednictvím univerzálního jazyka umění.

V jádru projektu stojí snaha odstraňovat bariéry prostřednictvím sdílené kreativity a umožnit knihovnám těžit z úzké spolupráce s místními galeriemi. Projekt tak představuje knihovny jako místa umění, kde je umění specifickým vizuálním jazykem, který umožňuje sdílet a komunikovat nejrůznější témata a bourat bariéry.

Jeho struktura kombinuje zapojení místní komunity s mezinárodní spoluprací následujícími způsoby:

Iniciativa je přeshraničním partnerstvím knihoven v Třinci (Česko), Concesiu (Itálie), Braze (Portugalsko) a Kranji (Slovinsko). Cílí především na zranitelné skupiny, jako jsou senioři, mládež, lidé se zdravotním postižením a ti, kteří čelí sociální izolaci, aby jejich hlasy a příběhy byly slyšet.

Na místní úrovni projekt pořádá komunitní workshopy, vyprávění příběhů a tvorbu veřejného umění, které zachycují vzpomínky, identitu a generční dědictví každého regionu. Tyto aktivity nejen oslavují místní kulturu, ale vytvářejí také prostor pro dialog a spojení.

Na mezinárodní úrovni partneři spolupracují prostřednictvím mobilit a výměn, aby sdíleli umělecké metody a jedinečné příběhy ze svých komunit. Tato spolupráce buduje mezikulturní mosty, obohacuje projekt o různé pohledy a podporuje vzájemné porozumění.

The Art Connecting People project is an international cultural initiative funded by the European Union under the CERV programme. It unites four public libraries across Europe—including Knihovna Třinec—to promote social inclusion and community cohesion through the universal language of art.

At its core, the project aims to break down barriers through shared creativity and enables libraries to benefit from close collaboration with local galleries. In doing so, it positions libraries as spaces for art, where art serves as a unique visual language that facilitates the sharing and communication of diverse themes and helps dismantle barriers.

Its structure combines local community engagement with international cooperation in the following ways:

The initiative is a cross-border partnership between libraries in Třinec (Czechia), Concesio (Italy), Braga (Portugal), and Kranj (Slovenia). It primarily targets vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, youth, individuals with disabilities, and those facing social isolation, ensuring their voices and stories are heard.

At the local level, the project hosts community workshops, storytelling sessions, and public art creation that capture the memories, identity, and generational heritage of each region. These activities not only celebrate local culture but also create spaces for dialogue and connection.

On an international level, partners collaborate through mobilities and exchanges to share artistic methods and the unique stories gathered from their communities. This cooperation builds cross-cultural bridges, enriching the project with diverse perspectives and fostering mutual understanding.

Street art spojuje

Pouliční umění nemusí být jen vizuálním osvěžením městských zákoutí, ale především živým médiem, které dokáže propojovat lidi. Třinec – město se specifickou industriální historií, obklopené beskydskou přírodou – vnímáme jako společnou platformu pro setkávání napříč generacemi, různorodými komunitami i životními příběhy. Chceme vytvářet bezbariérové prostředí, ve kterém se mohou potkat děti, mladí lidí, senioři i lidé s handicapem, aby společně objevovali tvůrčí proces a sdíleli svůj pohled na místo, kde žijí.

Podstatou celého cyklu není pasivní sledování tvorby, ale přímé zapojení, dialog a objevování nových možností veřejného prostoru. Propojením sousedských workshopů, diskusí a praktického tvoření směřujeme k vytvoření společného uměleckého díla přímo v ulicích Třince. To v městském prostoru nezůstane jen jako dekorace, ale jako trvalý symbol vzájemné spolupráce, společně prožitého času a živé lokální identity, na kterou můžeme být všichni hrdí.

Akce plná setkání a pouličního umění pod vedením českého umělce Nikoly KHOMY Vavrouse. Její součástí bude živá tvorba muralu, Graffiti Jam Session za účasti více než dvaceti umělců a hudební doprovod. Připraven bude sprayart workshop s volnou spray zónou, kde si všichni zájemci mohou vyzkoušet sprejování na velké formáty, práci se šablonami a vytvořit si vlastní dílo.

Street Art Connects

Street art does not have to be merely a visual refresh for urban corners, but above all a living medium capable of bringing people together. We view Třinec—a city with a distinct industrial history, surrounded by the Beskydy mountains—as a shared platform for encounters across generations, diverse communities, and various life stories. We aim to create an accessible, barrier-free environment where children, young people, seniors, and individuals with disabilities can meet to explore the creative process together and share their perspective on the place they call home.

The essence of this series is not passive observation, but direct involvement, dialogue, and the discovery of new possibilities for public space. By combining community workshops, discussions, and hands-on creation, we are working toward crafting a collaborative artwork directly in the streets of Třinec. Rather than serving as mere decoration, it will remain in the urban space as a lasting symbol of cooperation, shared time, and a vibrant local identity we can all take pride in.

Colors of the City

13–15/8

An event full of meetings and street art led by czech artist Nikola KHOMA Vavrous. It will include live mural creation, a Graffiti Jam Session with the participation of more than twenty artists and musical accompaniment. A spray art workshop with a free spray zone will be prepared, where all interested parties can try spraying on large formats, working with stencils and create their own work.
